The World Is Not Conclusion
This World is not Conclusion.
A Species stands beyond—
Invisible, as Music—
But positive, as Sound—
It beckons, and it baffles—
Philosophy—don't know—
And through a Riddle, at the last—
Sagacity, must go—
To guess it, puzzles scholars—
To gain it, Men have borne
Contempt of Generations
And Crucifixion, shown—
Faith slips—and laughs, and rallies—
Blushes, if any see—
Plucks at a twig of Evidence—
And asks a Vane, the way—
Much Gesture, from the Pulpit—
Strong Hallelujahs roll—
Narcotics cannot still the Tooth
That nibbles at the soul—
~ Emily Dickinson
A Spiritual Life
A life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all.
No man can serve two masters.
Your life is shaped by the end you live for.
You are made in the image of what you desire.

What Is Prayer?
Prayer is the soul's sincere desire
Uttered or unexpressed;
The motion of a hidden fire
That kindles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
The falling of a tear,
The upward glancing of an eye
When none but God is near.
Prayer is the simplest form of speech
That infant lips can try;
Prayer the sublimest strains that reach
The majesty on high.
Oh thou,by whom we come to God,
The Light, the Truth, the Way;
The path of truth thyself hast trod,
Lord, teach us how to pray.

Things I'm Giving Up For Lent
Below is a list of a few of the things I'm trying to give up this Lent. Since nature abhors a vacuum, I'm also trying to "take up" the practices on the right hand side of the list.

Friar Rex
